i once heard the story
of learning from bad luck
of learning from hard times
well i can see it perfectly clear
i don't need to be hit in the hand with a hammer
to appreciate pain
i'm sure Christopher reeve would like to go horseback riding again
and maybe he didn't die in vain
maybe being without
helped us all to see
but i doubt in all that philosophy
i think it is flawed
i think in all the negative
we innately derive good
but i am well aware
that good can come from good
that it doesn't have to come from the bad
maybe we like to say it
to our less fortunate ones
maybe we like to say it to ourselves
when things don't work out the way we planned.
