there's a salesmen in us all
there's that part of us
that tries too much
to get away with too much
it seems our politicians have capitalized on this proclivity
to charm the worst of us
from the best of us
to get us to see
what isn't there
the political magicians
wise in their ways
to make us somehow see
something we don't want to
false emotional ambassadors
making us feel facile emotions
and it's a hard life
lying to pay the bills
lying professionally
but someone has to convince us that we are right all the time.
