Why do I this every day or so
Peek my head through the mask
So I can see better than before
Well wishers and the same
Could point some fingers my way
House of my waste and shame
Family akin to greed and foreclosure
I’ll take my home and heart
Share with no one this me
Well I don’t need forced existence
I’ll carve me into a monument
Something pedestrian
Something no one notices
Just like me
Just like all I am.
That’s about how much I am
Folded and made
Just like my bed
I’ll take it to sleep with
I’ll see you when I can
Holidays and birthdays
Don’t mean what they did
Call me when the appointment arrives
Another thanksgiving the same.
