and no one knows, unless they do, then of course, it is far too late.

god must break into song
when others fight to the finish
when the ones who die, break his heart doing so
and i love you grandfather even though i barely know you.

when i fall i fall hard
looking for the tangibles in the intangibles.
‘oh god what is the good fight?
i don’t know, but i’m coming along.

a stubborn one on his way out
oh it is true what they say about love
how it sings more in pain and turmoil
than in the unburdened times.

when i love i love true
learned well and journeying on.
oh lord what is the first rule?
i don’t know for sure, but losing self seems the only way.

i have lost my vision without care
for the prettiest notion of doing for others
cannot be filled without pretense
unless you have voided yourself of self.

lord make me nothing, only then can I be broken.

(make me like the empty jar, empty but with pure purpose)
