awakening

The creeping cold has crept once more
All through autumn and into the depths of December
The wintery madness has enveloped the first month of the year
Each step is taken with caution
As we carefully traverse the tundric sidewalks
The stalactitc icicles hang like fangs,
Foreboding, they glare at us as we move through the streets
The burning sun is reflected by the perfect alabaster
Our eyes squint trying to see clearer
The bold burning snow shines loud
Our days are shorter
The cold colder
More clothes, mittens and hoods up
We ache for Spring to bring us a calm
Release us from this frigid time

Come creatures stir the earth
for we need new birth
New life.
Newness.
