so many teeth shine in magazines
and they have photoshop for that
and they have special dentists for that
well i'm one of the chose ones
that could care less
for perfection
so many shoes glimmer on the red carpet
so many rings sparkle in commercials
and they have expensive stores for that
they have specialists to make sure you buy the right thing
and i guess i'm one of the chosen ones
that would rather have flaws and moths
than waste energy on things that cost
but don't have character
so many cars with the perfect extras
so many houses with all the amenities
and maybe i'm one of the chosen ones
and i'll take pride in my joy of simple things
and simple times and loves
i'll let the varnish fade on my desk
or let my cushions soften with wear
i'll take joy in each new wrinkle and mark
i'll enjoy all that comes my way
and by glad in the moment
and not worry in want.
