this self-genuflected soul.

Old sins
Pay twice more
Than all the blame you see
All times
Pass through my peripheral heart.
You will go
Unnoticed.
And I will sing about what never.

Because I am sad that way.

I’ll count the dead chickens
And bury the rest of the unhatched eggs
All I want
Is this
Blood covering me
Wrapped in the synthetic gauze
Of broken memories.

You can have teeth loose
From eating all my youth
And asking for seconds
I’ll take a pencil
And scratch out my affections
For you.

I walk a way
That takes me away
From all you are
All I am.
