dead in our bed

I asked to be
Whatever makes me you and you me
And make it broken and
And perfectly
I came with that way
That brought you over and prayed
“all alone I laid my heart
To the care of whomever shall say they do
That was then
This is here,
Please hold me like you did that night you cried in my bed”

I like to be
Whatever we are
So fallen and lovely
So with this night, I am married to this bed
That we now call ours.
I keep turning and tossing…
Making room for your body
Though you are six days away.
I am holding to you with my memories
I don’t need to be alive until you are here with me…

Please don’t forget to wake me when you have found me.
