Casket memories
You’ll take this heart of mine
To the grave with you
I’ll hand you mine
So much of me steeped in illness
I’m so thankful for a death that shines true
How I’ve made a bed
With patience and care
How so much waiting
Turns to me analyzing why you don’t
And why I do.
Child how you love so well
Let us hide our sorrow
And carry this toy gun hatred
Like a poisonous snake
And release it into the woods.
And the pain of loss
Feels like sun shine
Compared to the regret
We’d share if we hadn’t shared our lives.
